9th International Warsaw Invention Show will take place in Main Building of the Warsaw University of Technology (address: Plac Politechniki 1, 00-661 Warsaw, Poland) on 12-14 October 2015.
International Warsaw Invention Show is the largest in Poland and one of the biggest in Europe international event related to innovation and inventiveness. The first edition was held in 2007 in the Palace of Culture and Science in Warsaw. The main organizers were: the Association of Polish Inventors and Rationalizers, the Warsaw Exhibition Board and the SPWiR Promotion and Service Agency “Pro Inventor”. Patronage of the event was taken by the Minister of Science and Higher Education, Ministry of Economy, Marshal of the Mazowieckie province, President of the Polish Agency for Enterprise Development, President of the Polish Patent Office, the President of the Federation of Engineering Associations NOT, President of the Main Council of the Research Institutes, the International Federation of Inventors’ Associations (IFIA) and the Association of European Inventors (AEI). During the first edition of the exhibition there were investors from different European countries – the Czech Republic, France, Lithuania, Hungary and the Asian countries – Malaysia, Taiwan and China. The exhibition attracted more than 160 innovative solutions, inventions and industrial designs. The goal of this event was to present the society the innovative and inventive achievements and to establish relations between inventors and investors. At the end of the event organizers settled the contest “The most crazy invention”.
The IWIS’ prestige and popularity have increased significantly for seven years. Already in 2010 and 2012, IWIS was organized under the honorary patronage of the Polish President, and in 2011 – during the fifth edition of the exhibition the patronage was taken by President of the European Parliament Jerzy Buzek, prof. The year 2011 was dedicated for Maria Sklodowska-Curie. Therefore, the Association of Polish Inventors and Rationalizers and International Federation of Inventors’ Associations IFIA decided to organize, during the fifth edition of IWIS, the First World Contest of Chemical Inventions, in which SPWiR funded the main prize – 10 000 PLN.
Last editions, the IWIS was attended by the representatives from 23 Asian and European countries (Saudi Arabia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, China, Croatia, Czech Republic, Egypt, Finland, Spain, Iran, Yemen, South Korea, Macedonia, Malaysia, Moldova, Germany, Poland, Russia, Romania, Slovenia, Sweden, Taiwan, Ukraine and Hungary), who presented more than 600 inventions and innovative solutions, which were the review of technical achievements, implemented in industry or ready for commercialization.
During the opening ceremonies, hosted: Zbigniew Marciniak, Prof. – Undersecretary of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, Alicja Adamczak, PhD – President of the Patent Office, Ewa Mankiewicz-Cudny – President FSNT-NOT, Stefan Goralczyk, PhD – Vice-President FSNT-NOT, and Andras Vedres, PhD – President of the International Federation of Inventors’ Associations IFIA.
The elementary aims of the Warsaw International Exhibition of Inventions are:
– demonstrating the scientific achievements of Polish scientists and inventors against the background of global solutions
– enabling inventors to establish contacts with potential investors,
– familiarizing the public opinion with the achievements of Polish inventors,
– creating a positive image of Polish science
– promoting innovative thinking among the youth.
This year the Association of Polish Inventors and Rationalizers and International Federation of Inventors’ Associations IFIA will organize the Fourth World Contest of Chemical Inventions.
